Poetry

If ever there was a poetic fruit, pears are it. Possibly pomegranates, strawberries, peaches, grapes, and certainly mangoes. Well, there goes the plug for my poetic pear.

Texas Sheet cake

Leave it to my favorite Lizzy to present chocolate at its best!  This recipe is from her! 


2 cubes butter
4 TB cocoa
1 c. water
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt

Boil butter, cocoa, and water.  Sift together flour and sugar.  Mix liquid with dry and mix well.  Add remaining ingredients.  Pour in a jelly-roll pan.  Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.

2 cubes butter
6 TB milk
3 TB cocoa
1/2 bag powder sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Melt butter, milk and cocoa.  add sugar, vanilla and nuts.  Frost cake.
