Poetry

If ever there was a poetic fruit, pears are it. Possibly pomegranates, strawberries, peaches, grapes, and certainly mangoes. Well, there goes the plug for my poetic pear.

Caramels

Another hooray for Tammy S. and her recipes!  These are her delicious caramels. 
2 c. sugar
2/3 c. butter
1 can evaporated milk (half reserved)
2/3 c. and 2 TB corn syrup
dash of salt

Mix all ingredients together but 1/2 can milk.  Cook to a  boil after the sugar is completely dissolved.  When it starts to boil, add the rest of the milk.  Stir constantly and cook until the caramel is at the soft ball stage.
